Power Surge Damage Repair on LA32D403E2
Introduce
Fix power supply LA32D403E2. I came to a workshop for repairing a Samsung LCD. Its power light was not turning on. I asked the customer, and he said that there was a power surge due to which it turned off. I turned on the LED and saw that it was completely off, and its fuse was also melted. I read that it meant that its fuse was loose in its socket, due to which this problem was created. In the power supply, I took some time from the customer and said that you leave it, and I will diagnose it and tell you and fix it. The customer said, Okay, you fix it.

BN44-00468A Fuse & Capacitor Fault
First of all, I opened this TV in my workshop lab. There was a lot of dust in it. After cleaning it, I started checking its power supply. First of all, I checked its main fuse. It was showing open. Then I noticed that its main filter capacitor was a little swollen. And the third thing was that there was a DC fuse in it. It was also open. So I diagnosed these three things. It was bad. After replacing these three things, I decided to check the power supply for a short circuit so that I could confirm whether this was the problem or if there was some other problem.
- Main fuse was open.
- Main filter capacitor was swollen.
- DC fuse was open.
- Replaced all three faulty components.
BN44-00468A Power Supply Short Circuit Check and Final Test
Now I started checking the short circuit of the power supply. First I checked its main bridge rectifier; it was fine. Then I checked the settings on the main filter capacitor. Everything was fine there too. There was no setting. Then I checked the backlight area where 300 volts DC goes. I did not see any short circuit there either. So I was satisfied and decided to run this power supply now. I fitted this power supply inside the set. After fitting it, I installed its socket, and after that, I turned on the LED. It started working perfectly.
- Checked the main bridge rectifier — found no fault.
- Verified main filter capacitor short circuit — all fine.
- Inspected backlight area with 390 V DC — no short circuit detected.
- Reinstalled the power supply into the TV.
- Powered on the LED TV — set worked perfectly.
Conclusion
You saw that we repaired a Samsung LED TV. Its power supply was faulty. We repaired it. We did not change the entire power board. This fault was created due to high voltage in the power supply. So my advice to the user is to install a voltage protector with your LED TV, which also protects you from surge voltage and also provides protection from overvoltage. This is a common fault that can occur in every TV, especially in old TVs. If you have any questions, you can ask in the comments. I will answer.
Q1: Why does the power supply of an old model LCD TV break down?
A:1 The common problem is that voltage spikes cause issues in five power supplies.
A: 2 There could also be an age factor because the parts of an old LCD have a lifespan, so once it reaches the end of its lifespan, it will start to malfunction again.
