How to fix Sony TV Color problem | T-Con Board Repair

How to fix a Sony TV color problem. Let’s learn this Bravia series model KLV-32S550A. I came to the workshop for repair. This TV had a green color disturbance. The customer said that it was running in normal condition. Suddenly its colors got distorted. My expert opinion was that its T-CON board has a fault. Since it is a very old model, this is a common fault of this set. But I had to work hard to repair it.

initial inspection

I opened this set in my workshop lab and first of all did its physical inspection. I removed the cover of its T-CON board and checked it. I felt its gamma IC was very hot. You can guess its heat from the fact that my finger almost got burnt. This will confirm that this IC number AS15 is faulty and needs to be replaced. This IC is of two types. One has a heat sink pad under it, and the other type is simple.

  • Fault Green Color Disturb
  • Initial inspection Faulty T-con diagnosis

Gamma Correction IC-AS15 Faulty

I removed the AS15 IC from the T-con board. I think this IC is changing for the second time because its main VCC pins were connected externally. However, when I removed it, I saw that the PCB was badly burned from below. So this is a common fault, but due to the burning of the PCB, I had a very difficult time replacing this part. I scratched the burned area with a sharp blade and cleaned it and replaced the IC.

AS15 IC replacement

I washed the T-con card thoroughly by replacing the AS15 IC. Let’s talk a little about this IC. This gamma correction IC has 14+1 channel voltage buffers that buffer the reference voltage to the screen so that each color appears completely accurate in its place. Since these sets are quite old, it is common for this IC to malfunction. However, caution is required while changing it. Use a heat gun with appropriate heat so that the PCB is not affected.

  • The faulty green color disturbs.
  • Diagnose the T-con card.
  • Replacement AS15 IC.
  • All colors are perfect.
  • The fault has been fixed.
