Sony KDL-46EX700 5 Blinks Error T-CON Solution
KDL-46EX700 5 Blinking Fix This Sony Bravia LED TV came to me for repair. When I turn on the TV, it shows a green light, and after a few seconds, it starts blinking five times. This LED TV belonged to a very old customer of mine, and for some reason he had given this TV to a clumsy technician. That technician took this TV to the bonding machine, guys, and they told him that this TV would not be repaired because there was a short circuit inside its screen.

Replacement LVDS Inductors
I opened this set in the workshop lab and thought about the root cause of this fault. According to the principle, the first thing I should have looked at was the LVDS signal coming from the system board and the panel ID. The previous technician had replaced the LVDS inductor coils with 22-ohm resistors, which was a mistake. I installed the original coils on the main board. This did not fix my fault, but it was necessary for the circuit to be correct.
Trace Panel ID
Now I had to check the communication of its panel ID data to see if this data is going from the system board to the T-con board or not. In this model, these two tracks come from the system IC to pin number 40 of the LVDS socket and from pin number 41 to the T-con board. I checked the continuity of these tracks, and they were absolutely correct. If you want to trace it, then check the system IC on pins 7 and 8 of chassis number IC 5000.
Screen testing
I did all the necessary tests, but the 5 blinking faults remained in their place. Now I also started to wonder if there was any problem in its screen because even if this fault was a short circuit in the gate drive of the screen, the panel ID system would still send a wrong signal, and the system would consider it as protection. I tested its screen by installing a separate board, and an image appeared on the screen, which meant that my fault was in the T-con.

Now my full attention will be on the T-con board. I separated this board from the LED and started checking its parts very carefully. On the top side of the T-con board, where the panel ID was going, there were some resistors and inductor coils installed in a line on the right side. I checked them with a multimeter and found that one of them, the inductor coil with chassis number B29, was open. This was the cause of the fault. I replaced this inductor coil, installed the T-con board, and switched on the LED TV. So my fault was solved.
- The TV showed the 5 blinking red light fault.
- I replaced the LVDS inductor coils with 22 ohm components.
- Carefully checked the panel to make sure it was intact and functioning.
- Tested the screen by connecting it to a separate main board.
- Replaced the B29 inductor coil which was causing the issue.
- After these steps, the 5 blinking red light fault was completely resolved.

Conclusion
