Step-by-Step Repair Guide How to Fix Black Screen Issue on Sony KDL-60EX700 LED TV
The Sony KDL-60EX700 was brought to my workshop for repair. This TV was not displaying the picture. The backlight was failing, meaning it was bright. The sound of this TV was also coming out. I booked the TV and gave the customer time. This fault is a very common fault in Sony models.
Fault analysis
I opened the back cover of the TV and first checked its LVDS ribbon cable. It usually has rust on it, but I found it completely clean. When a Sony comes to you with a problem with the screen not working, the first thing you should do is check its ribbon cable.
Fault diagnosis
After checking its ribbon cable, I plugged it into its main board and checked its indicator coils. It had six indicator coils installed. I tested them very carefully with a multimeter. Some of these indicator coils were showing their value increase; their value should be two point two ohms, while here I was getting a meter reading of twenty ohms or more. I replaced all its inductors with 0-ohm resistors because I didn’t have any inductors at the time.
- Checked the LVDS ribbon cable, and it was OK.
- Check the inductor coil. It is faulty.
- All indicator coils were replaced, and the TV was fixed.

Conclusion
The picture of this set was not showing. First I checked the LVDS cable and it was fine. Then I checked the inductor coil above the LVDS signal coming from the system IC. They were bad. This inductor coil is faulty These inductor coils take the LVDS signal from the system IC and give the signal to the T-con card. If any of them is damaged, the display will not work. These are the first things to check in a new display.

Reasons for no display on Sony
Usually, the screen does not turn on in Sony TVs due to missing LVDS signal. This is what has been seen in most cases. It is very rare that there is a problem in the T-con or system IC due to which the screen does not turn on.
