How to Test 19V Track – Sony KDL-32R300E
How to fix Sony KDL-32R300E No power issue. This LED TV was brought to my workshop with a dead fault; its red light was not even turning on. Since this model has an external power supply, in the case of an adapter, I immediately checked the output voltage of this adapter, which was being generated. I returned this supply to the customer and, with great difficulty, took a day’s time. The customer had some bad experiences with the technician. You must have understood what I mean.

How to Test the 19V Power Supply Track
I opened this Sony in the workshop lab on the second day, and first of all, I checked its main power supply. Voltage was coming on the 19-volt socket. There is a MOSFET in front of it that passes the main supply. This MOSFET was working perfectly. I found a fuse open on the same track. This fuse provides supply to the 19-volt power supply, the 12-volt regulator, and the 3.3-volt plus 5-volt regulator. It is a common thing that if the main power line is disconnected, the system IC will remain silent.
- Check adapter output with a multimeter.
- Measure the 19V input on the mainboard.
- Inspect MOSFET and fuse.
- Use ohmmeter to confirm any short circuit.
Reason Behind the Blown Fuse
Why did the fuse open? Now I want to know the reason for this. For this, I checked the short circuit on the 19-volt track. I found a resistance of about 19 ohms at the input of the 12-volt regulator. This was the reason for the fuse to blow. Now the problem was that this track was going to three regulators. I adopted the smart method and checked the entire line with an ohmmeter. The place where I found the lowest resistance was the two ceramic capacitors installed at the input of the 12-volt regulator.
- Shorted ceramic capacitor.
- Near the 12V regulator, a ceramic capacitor was found shorted on the 19V supply line.
Diagnosis & Repair – Sony KDL-32R300E
Now either I remove the voltage regulator IC and see if the short circuit is gone or not. I used my milliohm meter a little more precisely so that I could find out the exact part that was shorted. From this testing, I found out that one of the two ceramic capacitors on the input of the voltage regulator was faulty. I carefully separated it from the circuit, and it was the capacitor that was shorted. I checked the short circuit on the main line, and it was gone. I replaced the faulty part, whose value was 10 uF.

- Identified a short circuit on the 19V supply line.
- Found a ceramic capacitor that was faulty.
- Replaced the capacitor with new one.
- The TV powered on successfully after repair.

Conclusion
In the no-power issue, we had a Sony model number KDL-32R300E for repair. It had a short circuit on its 19-volt main line. We removed this short circuit by replacing the ceramic capacitor near the 12-volt regulator. Our LED TV worked. I have put the full details of this fault in the form of pictures in this article. This article is for technicians. After repairing this TV for a new customer, I was very happy with the customer service, and this TV is still working. The customer reached me after being impressed by my website, so it is also my duty to do my job professionally. If you have any questions, you can ask in the comment box.

Sony KDL-32R300E No Power Issue – Q&A Section
Q1: What causes the Sony KDL-32R300E to have no power?
A: In most cases, the no power issue is related to a short circuit on the 19V main supply line. In this case, the fault was caused by a shorted ceramic capacitor near the 12V regulator.
Q2: How can I test the 19V power supply track in this model?
A: First, check the adapter output to confirm voltage is present. Then, measure the 19V track on the mainboard. Inspect the MOSFET and fuse in line with the 19V supply. If the fuse is open, check for short circuits using an ohmmeter.
Q3: Can a faulty capacitor cause the TV to be completely dead?
A: 3 Yes. Faulty capacitors can cause the TV board to be dead, especially when the capacitor is shorted.
Q4: Is the external adapter usually the cause of the no power problem?
A4: There is a very small chance that an external adapter will not generate 19 volts; however, you can easily check this with a multimeter.
Q5: How was the no-power issue repaired in this case?
A5: As you saw in this case, we diagnosed a 10-uF capacitor short circuit on a nineteen-volt power supply line.
