Sony klv-40r472b workshop received a set with an auto volume issue, where the volume would randomly increase and decrease. The TV was turned on, but the volume control was malfunctioning.
_Fault Finding_
1. Opened the set and checked the voltage on key1 and key2 of the main board’s keyboard.
2. Discovered voltage fluctuations on the key1 track.
3. Identified a 12K ohm voltage divider resistor installed on the key1 track.
_Repair Solution_
1. Replaced the 12K ohm resistor with a new one.
2. Verified the keyboard switch functionality.
_Result_
The auto volume issue was resolved, and the TV’s volume control now works properly.
