A Changhong Ruba L32X5I LED TV came to our workshop for repair. The TV was completely dead and wouldn’t turn on. The standby light was also not working.
Fault Finding
We opened the TV and checked the main supply. The DC voltage was present, but the TV wouldn’t turn on. We then checked the power supply area and found that it was severely corroded. The pins of the power supply IC were corroded and connected to each other.
Repair
We found that the .33 ohm resistor at the FET point was disconnected due to corrosion. We cleaned the corrosion from the IC and resoldered the load resistor. After the repair, the power supply started working properly.
Conclusion
The Changhong Ruba L32X5I LED TV was successfully repaired by cleaning the corrosion from the power supply IC and resoldering the load resistor. The TV is now working normally.
