How to fix sound problem in Sony TVÂ
Learn how to fix sound problems on the Sony KLV-32R302B No Sound Problem Fix model. The sound is intermittent, and often the TV produces no audio at all. The mainboard uses the audio amplifier IC YDA179-S. This issue is related to the communication between this IC and the MediaTek system. In the following steps, we will explain how we diagnosed this fault and resolved it in full detail in this step-by-step guide.

Testing Audio IC YDA179-S
Coincidentally, when I opened this Sony LED TV for repair, its sound was completely off. I started by checking the audio amplifier circuit. First, I tested the main VCC voltage of this IC, which was present. This IC, YDA179-S, is made by Yamaha and is connected to the system IC through a digital interface. The pin numbers of this IC are 5, 12, 15, and 16. Did you trace these pins to the system IC through a 100-ohm resistor? The 100-ohm array resistor is correct.
Audio Mute Resistor Value Increased
In the next step, I tested the remaining important communication pins of the audio amplifier IC. Pin 17 is used for audio mute, pin 18 is the audio MON, and pin 19 is the system reset. While tracing these pins, I found a 100-ohm resistor connected in series with pin 17, linking the system IC to the mute pin. This resistor had increased in value. I replaced it with a new one, which resolved the sound issue.
My experience fixing this faultÂ
This repair guide was written by a friend of mine, Saif-ur-Rehman, who diagnosed this fault. I am sharing it here based on my own experience of repairing the most common issues in Sony LED TVs. In this case, a 100-ohm resistor was faulty, and replacing it resolved the problem. While we also repair other LED TV brands, Sony remains a great brand when it comes to service. Whether it’s the main board, T-con board, or power supply, a technician with the right knowledge and experience can handle it without any issue.

- Sony KLV-32R302B No Sound Problem.
- Testing audio amplifier VCC it was perfect.Â
- Test audio amplifier source connection is also correct.Â
- Test audio amplifier IC mute pin. This was a malfunction with the system IC.Â
- System IC has 100 ohm resistor found defective.
- Replacing the 100 ohm resistor fixed the sound issue.Â

Conclusion
Here’s how we resolved the sound issue on a Sony LED TV, where the customer reported intermittent audio. We traced the problem to the audio amplifier section. The mute pin of the audio amplifier IC was not communicating properly with the system IC. The issue was caused by a faulty resistor, which we fixed by replacing it. You can see it in the marked picture. We hope this guide will be helpful to fellow technicians.
